Title   The politics of land reform in Southern Africa
Author Lahiff, Edward; Programme for Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS)
Edition PDF
Published Pretoria: Institute for Security Studies
Year 2003-11-04
Pages 15
Abstract This paper, presented at a ISS conference Nov 4, 2003, discusses the land reform in Mozambique, South Africa and Zimbabwe, and considers two key issues: redistribution and land rights. It shows how the politics of land has entered a new and dramatic phase and alleges that the mood among the rural poor, inspired by Zimbabwe, is likely to challenge the current neo-liberal orthodox policies.
