Areas of emphasis Media Programme All the partners in NiZA’s Media Programme work on various levels to improve the media in Southern Africa. Strengthening democratic processes is key here.
NiZA operates in Southern Africa in cooperation with its partners, focusing on the written press, radio, audiovisual media and new media. The Media Programme offers assistance in building organisations’ capacity by means of training courses, exchanging expertise, lobbying, research and making facilities available. NiZA also promotes the exchange of knowledge and contacts between partner organisations and between the media and civil society organisations in the region.
The Media Programme has four areas of emphasis:
In the framework of these four areas, NiZA focuses extensive attention on ICT, gender, HIV/AIDS and the fight against poverty and economic inequality.
The Media Programme works closely with the other programmes and departments at NiZA. Such programmes as Economic Empowerment and Human Rights, as well as the Communications department, regularly welcome mutual involvement in projects and activities. They also link activities in the South to those in the North and vice versa.
