Nouvelle Dynamique Syndicale (NDS) (partner NiZA)
The Nouvelle Dynamique Syndical (NDS) is a trade union movement based in Lubumbashi. Its mission is to provide schooling to defend and develop the interests of (mine)workers. Its main objectives are stable employment, fair and promptly paid salaries and a proper pension for these workers. NDS also fights against the pillage of the riches of the DRC. The NDS takes part in both national and international networks and coalitions of organisations.
The NDS has taken several actions against the corruption and the pillage of resources within the extractive industries in the DRC. The following actions are examples of activities undertaken by NDS:- Workers of Maadini, Ustawi, ACP and Kambove (mines in the DRC) were made aware of the threat that the formation of Kababankola Mining Company (KMC) might impose on them.
- NDS has participated in radio debates, for instance on the BBC, about the pillage of resources.
- NDS has met with the Belgian Senate Commission on resource pillage in the DRC
- NDS has held a protest march with other members of civil society against the pillage, demanding the restoration of resources.
